Staff Profile
Henk Knipscheer has more than 30 years' experience designing and managing agricultural and rural development programs and projects. He has had long-term field assignments in Asia (Indonesia), and Africa (Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria), where he has played a leading role in establishing program linkages between public agencies, NGOs, rural communities, and the private (for profit) sector. His experience includes agricultural sector assessments, rapid marketing surveys, and credit studies. During the last five years he conducted several value chain analyses in Asia and Africa. He designed alliance-type of projects with a number of multinational agribusinesses. These include Cargill (smallholder cotton in Tanzania), Unilever/Lipton (smallholder tea in Indonesia), Heineken (developing local grain supply chains in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Burundi and DRC) and Diageo (developing sorghum supply chains in Ghana and Cameroon ). In Nigeria he co-authored the Cassava Sector Master Plan (2007). Earlier in his career he was Senior Managing Director at Winrock International. His publication list amounts to more than 60 articles, books, and scientific papers.
