One of EUCORD’s co-founders, Pierre Antoine has 40 years’ experience in the design and management of agricultural and natural resource programs and projects in 20 countries of Africa and in Indonesia. Prior to joining EUCORD, he held positions of director of the Africa division and director of the On-Farm Agricultural Management Program at Winrock International (1983-2003), was director general of the National Agricultural Institute of Zaire on behalf of the Rockefeller Foundation (Yangambi, D.R. Congo, 1979 to 1982), and was a member of the Soil Science department of the University of Minnesota (1970-79), including a 6-year academic assignment at Morocco’s Hassan II Institute of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine. He has planned, developed and managed a portfolio of programs, projects and sub-grants totaling over $40 million (foundations, private sector, CFC, USAID, World Bank, other donors). His prime technical focus is seeds, yield and productivity increase, income generation at the smallholder level, micro-credit associations, linkages with NGOs, the private sector, extension and research systems, and the empowerment of women in rural areas. He has taught courses on African development in two Arkansas universities.
